Probably doesn’t need its own thread but I thought it would be Brady. Or is that still Brady?

I am a spoiled Yankee fan myself. The playing field has leveled with the huge TV money. A lot more teams with big money to spend

Yankee fans are known for having much higher standards than others. Sorry, but in Yankee land, finishing 2nd means they are the first loser. If you're not a life long follower like me it probably won't make sence.

The problem again starts with the owner who refuses to acknowledge that Cashman needs to be gone, along with Boone. But that won't happen because Hal really does not possess the fire and passion for winning like his Father did. Like Mark, he's yet another owner who never built anything of his own in his life.

For the last several years Cashman has assembled one poorly constructed team after another. He signs FAs instead of developing our own players from the farm. To give you an idea, any idea who the last pitcher the Yankees drafted that ever amounted to anything? That would be Andy Pettitte, 36 freaking years ago.

The problem is that we don't have enough real ball players. Instead, we have a bunch of stubborn mashers who swing for the fences and refuse to concentrate on just making contact with RISP, especially once they are in a 2 strike count, and thereby killing scoring opportunities. Oh sure, we can beat up on weaker competition during the regular season but once they get to the PS, they have to face much higher quality pitching and better defenses...and the Yankees' weaknesses get exposed in the PS year after year.

You have to be well versed in Yankee lore to understand the mentality and expectations of most of their fans and you'd be hard pressed to find another Yanx fan to disagree with my stance.

I am not critical of Mark's IQ, which is typically the room temperature. It's his failure to adhere to his "I know what I don't know" hands off mantra when it comes to football decisions. Robert Irsay was no genius but he surrounded himself with good football people like Bill Polian and stayed the f[raiders_icon]ck out of their way.

Financially? He has delegated much of those decisions to capable people and it has paid off for him, and the Raiders-I do applaud him for that.

I get it man, just busting your chops. My oldest brother has been a diehard Yankee fan my entire life so I’ve seen it up close. I am definitely not a fan though I do love the history and appreciate all the iconic greats that have worn the pinstripes.

Been a Yankee fan my whole life. Comparing them to the Raiders is well.....ridiculous. They have fielded a team good enough to win several times of late. Judge chokes do you dump him? Multiple starters go down you can't plan for that. I miss the old days I get it but back them we could just buy the missing piece and did. Now everyone has money to burn except the bottom feeders

Not trying to compare the franchises, I'm comparing their owners Hal and Mark as the root of the problem.

You brought up multiple starters going down, and if you look at the history, the Yanx have for quite a while now, a piss poor developmental program, conditioning program, and medical department and again, they're flat out terrible at drafting and developing their own youngster. Instead, they simply throw money at the problem. And Neither Stanton (1 dimensional and made $32 Mil last year) nor Grisham ($22 Mil QO?) should be on the roster. Meanwhile 2 youngsters ("The Martian and Spencer Jones) are rotting in the minors and are not getting their well deserved chance.

Like I said before, year after year the Yankee's roster is simply not "built for the PS" and because of that, they have been "exposed" against better teams with quality pitching and defense. Winning 95 regular season games means nothing if you fall flat in the PS. And that is exactly what has happened 15 years in a row.

Irsay's did what most owners do when needed.

Robert Irsay was notoriously involved in roster decisions, coaching decisions, and daily football operations throughout his ownership of the Baltimore/Indianapolis Colts from 1972 until his death in 1997. Often described as an eccentric and meddlesome owner, he frequently clashed with coaches and personnel staff over players.

Jim Irsay was known to make, or heavily influence, major roster and personnel decisions during his time as owner of the Indianapolis Colts (1997–2025). While he generally let his general managers handle day-to-day operations for long stretches, Irsay was an active owner who directly intervened, particularly during tumultuous periods.

Comparing how teams build legacies, a non-cap sport and a capped sport make it completely different. One with near unlimited resources in a non-capped sport is going to have a large advantage. We know this, so yes the Yankee's have a different level of expectation as they should with what they spend.

For sure...and another example of meddlesome owners boogering things up would be Jerry Jones.

I meant Jim Irsay, thank you. Most owners do meddle to some degree but at the end of the day most of the successful ones tend to hire good people and let the GM's, GM...

Understood, Mark's done that, but also shit happens. Gruden was his big meddle, but that was his boy. Most of the rest have played out more traditional with owners stepping in a pivotal points. It's not like he hired wall street exec to coach the team and a mathematician to GM it.

We've been down this road a lot here, you can go through every hire and see the logic in each and availability plays a big role to, you have to choose from what's out there and that's not always peachy and you have to compete for them to.

Even now it's not traditional fan planned ownership by the numbers. It's not owner/gm/coach. It's owner/co-owner-football op's/gm/coach.

Well, at the end of the day it's his team, so I understand your point. People come and go but his name stays on the paychecks. I have always appreciated the continuity that the Rooney's allow with how the Steelers are run. I also like the organizational structure of the Green Bay Packers.

As you can see, an increase in team value is/was inevitable, even for the dogshit franchises, and relocating really pumps the numbers. Had the Raiders not been cockblocked on a move to LA, I imagine they’d be worth more than the Rams.

Having said that, it seems pretty f[raiders_icon]cking bizarre that any fan really gives a shit about what an owner or franchise is worth. Unless you’re about to marry into that shit or you’ve got a blood test proving you’re the sweet cherubic offspring of Doofus Davis, who gives a f[raiders_icon]ck. I guess some folk are just gaggin’ to hang their fan hat somewhere.

There is no better measuring stick for whether an owner is good or bad than the product on the field. You know, the football games. The Wins and Losses, Playoffs, Super Bowls, Championship Rings. That’s why we watch. That’s why we became fans. Maybe there are some fans who are also accountants, but what the actual f[raiders_icon]ck. Smh.

Mark Davis has been an apocalyptically bad owner, and even has that opportunity by being an apocalyptically lucky sperm. Outside of a few truly ignorant fools on this site, I can’t imagine anyone that posts here doing a worse job than he has.
You just showed that we outpaced 30 other organizations in growth and are spinning that to be a bad thing lol

So you’re one of the fans I spoke of who happens to also be an accountant. I mentioned it in the post you’re quoting. I also mentioned that’s it’s pretty f[raiders_icon]cking stupid as a football fan to be crowing about franchise/owner worth when the product we actually care about is whether our football team is good or not. Good btw, is usually based on whether the team wins football games.

Kinda shows that the greater number of steps/checks between Mark’s brain/mouth and the football team, the more professionally run the football team seems to be. And usually a well run football team will eventually show results on the field. We’ll find out.

Also, this thread is over. Mark being thought of as a genius miracle worker despite zero playoff wins and numerous hiring gaffs in his 14 years of stewardship is no different than a former QB being a “franchise” QB and MVP of the league. That’s a level of fan/fanaticism completely unhinged from reality and fully embracing stupidity.

Is there a future where Mark decides he has enough money and either sells completely or sells his majority shares and essentially bows out. Maybe they even promise him a suite at the games where he can bring his lady friends.
