I see no coaching or system cross over with Munchak. He was coaching the Broncos OL the year after Gary Kubiak left a senior advisor role. Based off his coaching stops I’d be surprised if he’d be a system fit.

For offensive lineman there are only two systems. Zone and power.

Mike Munchak 65yo has coached both zone and power blocking schemes throughout his decorated career. While he is often hailed as a "zone-blocking disciple," his most successful units have typically featured a varied mixture of both philosophies.

His implementation of these systems across different teams includes:

Zone Blocking: Munchak had significant success with zone schemes during his long tenure in Houston and Tennessee. When he joined the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2014, he was specifically tasked with re-introducing the outside-zone blocking scheme that the team had previously struggled to implement.

Power/Gap Schemes: While in Pittsburgh, Munchak didn't rely on zone exclusively; his lines successfully ran a "mixture of zone and power blocking schemes" that utilized pulling guards (a staple of power/gap runs). Some reports from his time with the Denver Broncos even described his specialty as being with gap or man-on-man blocking schemes.

Versatility: His philosophy often involved blending inside zone, outside zone, and power/gap runs to keep the offense varied and aggressive. This flexibility allowed him to maximize different types of talent, from "bruising" power runners like Eddie George to "speedsters" like Chris Johnson.
In essence, Munchak is viewed as a master technician who can adapt his teaching to whichever system best suits his personnel.

Mike Munchak is not currently holding a full-time coaching position in the NFL.
As of early 2026, his recent professional status includes:

Consulting Roles: He recently served as an offensive consultant for the Los Angeles Rams during the 2023 and 2024 seasons and consulted with the Jacksonville Jaguars during their 2025 training camp.

Future Interest: Munchak has expressed a desire to return to full-time coaching if the "right opportunity" arises, specifically mentioning interest in a potential return to the Tennessee Titans as an offensive line coach.

Last Full-Time Role: His last full-time position was as the offensive line coach for the Denver Broncos from 2019 to 2021.

Munchak stepped away from full-time duties partly for health reasons—including knee replacement surgery—and a desire to be closer to his family in the Denver and Southern California areas.

More so I was referring to any sort of cross over or fit with the Kubiak/Shanahan offensive scheme rather than the zone/power concepts. I have no doubt he can adapt and teach it, but I don’t see any direct crossover with him that screams to me he’s on the short list.

Would love one of these 4 - Munchak, Benton, Briciilo or Jeff Stoutland

All 4 are elite at running zone-heavy blocking schemes which fits exactly where this offence is going

I don't either but I dont think it has to.
I like that Munchak is older giving us 3 vet coaches to go alongside these young bucks. The Assistant HC, the special teams coach and what could be the Oline coach.
A good mix.

All reports are that Benton and Stoutland won't be available, and Bricillo definitely won't be available as he was hired by the Titans this offseason.

I could see a good chance of us pulling Rick Dennison from the Seahawks. Then hopefully hire an oline coach to be his succession plan as he's in his late 60's

I know that Benton, Stoutland & Bricillio won’t be available, i just saw a few sprinkling of Munchak as a sleeper candidate & thought that would be a elite hire

Dennison, Janocko & Benton were the 3 guys i said would likely be on the move with Kubiak if any Seahawks staff were moving

To be fair Dennison is a very underrated coach with a wealth of experience coaching OL, i could see him being hired a the run game coordinator & OL coach if he comes here
