It wouldn't surprise me if those 5 teams would be unwilling to spend a 4th on him but I think it might be hyperbole for them to say he was off their boards completely. Get down to the 6th or 7th and I think he was likely a no-brainer for any team - even if they thought he was a 20% chance to have a few years of play. Not enough low picks pan out to pass on a guy with his talent level even with a huge injury risk.

That's what I was thinking. They would have taken him at some point, but knew he would be gone by that point so in a sense he wasn't really on their boards.

I hope he doesn't turn out to be another Maurice Hurst. Hurst was slated to be a 1st round pick, but fell to the late rounds because of something irregular in his heartbeat. He never did pan out for any team.

How they deal with the knee will be interesting. There are teams that believe he needs another surgery if he's going to have a long career. McCoy says he is ready to go but will go with what the team wants with respect to whether he gets surgery. Do they let him play in 2026 and risk the degenerative knee, or have the surgery and make it a redshirt year.

It's possible that the best move for the Raiders is to just let him play and take the chance that a 4th rounder never sees a second contract - he ran in the 4.3's with his knees as-is. But the best move for McCoy is probably a surgery and redshirt year.

Yeah they will definitely need to have other doctors opinions, then they will have to do whatever they have to do. Hopefully its not as serious as it seems, but if it is then so be it. If he doesnt play this year that will be a 2 year break from playing.

I think he'll play this season. Can't imagine he goes through the rehab from an ACL injury and performed well at the combine, only to be shut down for another year. Which will be 2 consecutive years out of the game

Maybe he plays this year, gets NFL experience, and they reassess.

Seems like an easy one to me. I would much rather McCoy at 101 over Damon Arnett at 19 or Gareon Conley at 24.

Pretty sure I read someplace that The Raiders medical staff has examined the knee in depth and feel he is good to go in the 2026 season.

I think the real question is his ability to cut, plant, turn. Straight line speed is different. Hopefully he's at rookie minicamp and looking good. Ideally he doesn't miss two entire years of football, because the list of guys who return to form skill-wise after that can't be long.
