The Way Too Early Grade The Draft Thread
D+ we did not get our number one WR LOL
Actually, I like this draft, Spytek moved around a lot and got us some nice pieces. We did not get everything but it feels like Raiderland Christmas.

So let's see those overreaction grades. I know, I know, you cannot grade a draft for 3 years. Boo f[raiders_icon]cking Hoo. Lighten up Francis and grade this glorious weekend.
Mendoza by himself does not get us an A but the rest of the group certainly has to impress when put together. McCoy if he heals up makes the robber barons of the draft.
And there will be UDFAs and post draft pickups and drops. Tyree is going, well eventually, I mean the door s 40 yards away so it will take some time.
Grade A- but if McCoy pans out the grade could change.

So I shouldn’t have already booked rooms in LA to watch the Raiders in the Super Bowl???SuperRaider wrote: Sun Apr 26, 2026 5:00 am To tell you the truth; every raider fan highlights of the season is free agency and the draft; and then we build up this bubble that get so huge we are talking Superbowls and dynasty until we actually play our first game and then it goes on to firing our HC before we play our second game…..
Thought the raiders should have taken Boston who was available with the second pick; also thought they should have gone NT or DT or OT if not Boston….
Hope the draft really works out but after the first round pick lately; most of the 2nd rounders and the rest of rounds tend to disappear after a few seasons
Going to give the raiders a B- for this year draft; I know the media is giving the raiders great reviews for this year draft; but whenever the media give good reviews for the raiders; the raiders tend to have a bad season.

And this my fellow Raider fans is how you start to change a culture and build a team. Not much to not like considering how truly awful we were before the Kubiak hire. The roster is unrecognizable, younger and faster than before that day. If Carrol could manage 3 wins last year with that roster, I’m pretty pumped to see what our new staff can do with this one. Dennison coaching the big boys up front is not mentioned near enough. Cherry on top is a Maxx that will have an even bigger chip on his shoulder. Not that he needed it, but he’s gotta be stoked.
And like Hubbard said a few pages back, getting McCoy is like getting that extra first round pick and still keeping our best player.
We finally look as if we can compete and are a professional organization run by a competent front office.

Totally agree about perception vs reality. Although on paper we look so much better until we play we really don't know. People seem to also forget the competition should be better too.SuperRaider wrote: Sun Apr 26, 2026 5:00 am To tell you the truth; every raider fan highlights of the season is free agency and the draft; and then we build up this bubble that get so huge we are talking Superbowls and dynasty until we actually play our first game and then it goes on to firing our HC before we play our second game…..

I also thought the team could of gone in other directions and not spent so much in the defensive back field. But the team knows best.
I fear the middle of the Dline is going to give up a ton of rushing yards. Look what division rivals did in the running game. Pretty impressive.
No grade from me.

WHo the hell has been talking Super Bowls and dynasties. I think you may be on the wrong forum. Plus every draft has to be looked at in a vacuum.SuperRaider wrote: Sun Apr 26, 2026 5:00 am To tell you the truth; every raider fan highlights of the season is free agency and the draft; and then we build up this bubble that get so huge we are talking Superbowls and dynasty until we actually play our first game and then it goes on to firing our HC before we play our second game…..

Im sorry, 10 picks 2 lineman and one was a 7th. I believe it starts up front and if you cant control the los you have no chance. They past on bonafied trench men who like to fist fight over and over.
But hey im not the GM or coach so.
They didn't touch one player we talked about in length for 10,000 posts after r1. Tbey never do. And the drafts seem always to shit themselves. No?
But what do the 200 of us know. We only talk football 365 days a year.
The draft?
I liked Mendoza of course.
I like the 2nd round free safety who can play slot and on the outside.
I liked the OT. I think having a b/u grooming behind Kolton is a very good idea.
And I liked, not as much, the running back.
The rest? Maybe in 3 years but I'm sure ill look back at the draft to count the players no longer on the team.
And im not counting on McCoy at any time. Every injured player we draft washes out.
Im not playing the Schilling's game where I wait year after year for him to get healthy and make a difference only to watch him get injured again and again. Frigg that.
If hes playing ill be knowingly waiting for him to lay there grabbing his knee with both hands bc its a matter of time.
Sorry kid I wouldn't of drafted you but good luck.

Yeah I agree the Dline might not be that good; even Crosby is a question mark as we don’t know how much his injury has affected him….Rabidraider wrote: Sun Apr 26, 2026 5:34 am Totally agree about perception vs reality. Sorry I dont think he knows what hes talking about. He says we passed on speed like the old Raiders but we picked a bunch of players with rop 40s.
Then he says Stokes is upfront saftey who can lay the wood. He's not. He's another blazer who only started tackling last year. Look at his game logs.

B
They got good value for almost each pick. I understood the miss on a starting OT, as there was a run on them in Rd 1. Not getting a starting IDL, and passing on Pregnon and Dunker is why they don’t get an A grade. I love the McCoy pick, potential star, and if it doesn’t work out, it was only a 4th Rd pick.

AI AND ras just isn't speed, its everything plus the kid has exceptional feel/anticipation for the game, very good in coverage tooKillerRaider30 wrote: Sun Apr 26, 2026 6:40 am Sorry I dont think he knows what hes talking about. kubiak hire and new staff was an instant upgrade for us, now add the draft which upgraded at qb,safty,cb,ol and added depth on teh dlineViper wrote: Sun Apr 26, 2026 5:20 am And this my fellow Raider fans is how you start to change a culture and build a team. last yrs draft class is a blank, we just dont really know what we got cause the coaching was so bad with crappy oline coach, offensive coordinator and hc

exactly, we just dont know what we go...thorton,bech both had wasted yrs last yr due to stupid chip kelly and i agree this team is being built up like the champs team and will be run heavy like walker/charbs with ashton and mike rotating an upgraded oline tyler, kolton back, jpj at guard only and zuhn addedLayneStaley wrote: Sat Apr 25, 2026 10:29 pm It’s getting an A imo. WR and NT are still question marks but it’s been awhile since I was only worried about two positions. I think the plan might be to rotate a bunch of guys in the middle and maybe before camp cuts we trade for a vet or pickup a released one. I don’t think we are as bad at WR, especially since I think most of the gameplan is gonna be run the ball and throw it to bowers. I really do think Bech steps up and who knows what Nailor will deliver with an expanded role. Gotta think WR1 will be round 1 next year.
