...understood, but either way, it likely would be a crucial decision based on talent in the 7th, was my point...Sir Raider Duck, OMS wrote: Sat Apr 25, 2026 11:07 am But a UDFA might prefer another team that didn't just draft someone #1 overall who plays his position. Oftentimes, there are miniature bidding wars for the top UDFAs.
If you take the guy in the seventh, you avoid all that. He doesn't have a choice.

Yeah, I would not have thought they would have ignored the DT position in all of FA & up to the 5th round of the draft. That's pretty crazy to me. The edge is absolutely stacked but the IDL is pretty shitty currently. Possibly the worst in the league.erickench wrote: Sat Apr 25, 2026 11:07 am I don't understand why we continue to ignore this need at nose tackle. There is no one on the roster except Pegues that has the size for the position.

There are one or two decent FA NTs still out there. Maybe we bring one in after the draft?MexicanHulk wrote: Sat Apr 25, 2026 11:11 am Yeah, I would not have thought they would have ignored the DT position in all of FA & up to the 5th round of the draft. They're gonna be in nickel 80% of the time. If they wanted to go 3-3-5 nickel I would imagine they'd have gotten a NT by now. Probably 4-2-5 nickel will be the route. There's been some really good NT's historically found in the scrap heap. Snacks Harrison from the Jets comes to mind. Also, remember that Leonard was the Dline coach the last few years. He's got the best idea of what he needs there/what's already on roster for what he wants to do

Exactly, and for the others on this thread who were questioning picks like Crawford and (especially) McCoy who may not be ready to step in full time day 1, you have to start thinking like playoff teams who are always reloading. Coach McVay was talking about how Ty Simpson is not starting this year but he'll eventually get his chance down the road. Rams took Simpson 1st round knowing he probably wont contribute much this year barring injury to Stafford-- They could have took an impact player 1st round but they went for the future investment.Attyla wrote: Sat Apr 25, 2026 10:52 am The only guy we have "reached" on was Crawford and I can make a case that we did not even reach there.

It's become a tradition that crap QBs make the Pro Bowl these days with QBs getting shut down late and guys just declining to play. I think Murray earned his Pro BowlMexicanHulk wrote: Sat Apr 25, 2026 11:08 am Sheduer Sanders made the Pro Bowl last year. Yeah, that doesn't mean crap sometimes. I definitely don't want Murray to have the same career as Murray. That would suck.

McCoy is the exception to my thoughts that you don't take players that cannot play day one if you suck. His tape makes being patient worth the risk. Crawford will play day one and make Crosby's job easier.ALLRAIDERWORLD21 wrote: Sat Apr 25, 2026 11:19 am Exactly, and for the others on this thread who were questioning picks like Crawford and (especially) McCoy who may not be ready to step in full time day 1, you have to start thinking like playoff teams who are always reloading. He scored 13 TDs for us one year??? People still complained about him as I recall.Raider_Dave wrote: Sat Apr 25, 2026 11:03 am Murray was a 6th round pick who played for 11 years and made a Pro Bowl. If Washing can match his career he will have done well.
