Damn. Just damn.
I always used him in trivia with football guys asking who the only guy to get 3 interceptions in a superbowl game. No one ever guessed him. He was quiet and unassuming and not well known outside of Oakland.
But we’re the only ones that count to me. We lost a really good one.

Damn! I hate watching the heroes of my youth pass. He had quite a career. 12th round pick who was played himself up to an All Pro OLB and was at his best in big games. In some ways he reminded me a bit of Jack Ham as he was never out of position and always around the football. Great instincts.

I will always remember him stuffing John Riggins on 4th down to ice Super Bowl XVIII and of course who can forget his three picks in Super Bowl XV.

Bobby Chandler, Lyle Alzado, Mike Davis, Todd Christensen, Jack Squirek, Dave Dalby, Ray Guy, Micky Marvin now Rod Martin. Great players, better men.

Was a great unknown raider; had a great career with the raiders but was not mentioned much during his time with them….

I think he would go the same way Jack Ham went…when you mentioned the Steel curtain you alway hear about the other great Steelers defensive players and yet Jack Ham was one of the main guys that did all the work…

Yes, the greatest Raider QB of them all. I was referring to the 1980's Raider Super Bowl teams of my youth. I saw the tail end of Stabler's Raider career when I was really young but the 1980's Raiders will always define my passion for this organization.
