Gotta say this one hurts.
Was one of my favorites growing up but how can he not be after his 3 int and fumble recovery in Superbowl XV.
If you ever watched black Sunday you'll here the fired up Martin screaming abuse em, let's just abuse em.
Sad day

Very sad. Only 72 years old. 12th round draft choice who made all-Pro twice. Not counting getting Bo Jackson late (an unusual circumstance), I would say he is the best late round draft choice the Raiders ever got.

To all the younger fans here,
Do yourself a favor and watch some Rod Martin highlights on Youtube.
That's what the Raiders are supposed to be.
I'm hoping we are going to return to that.

Damnit terrible news. RIP Rod Martin. One of my all time favorite Raiders, certainly of the 80's 2 SB winning teams. He should have been the MVP of SB XV. He also was a hero in SB XVIII, making possibly the biggest play of the game. Late in the third quarter with Washington driving looking to make it a manageable two score game at what would be 28-16, Rod Martin stuffed the so called unstoppable Diesel John Riggins for a loss on 4th and 1 at the Raiders 25. Next play Marcus took it to the bank and the game was over.

One could certainly make that argument with his play that day.
