I’d have fun arguing big hits that I personally despised. I’ll start with

Creedence for one

I mean, yea Creedence but you got Thin Lizzy, Earth Wind and Fire, The Clash, Queen, The Guess Who, Fleetwood Mac, BOC and on and on. Hell Boston was at their prime in the 70's. Ziggy Stardust was a great time for Bowie. Jimi was hitting his stride in the 70's. 70's Elton John was at his best. The vast array of styles in the 70's without all the computer fixes and auto tune was pretty amazing. You had punk at it formative stages, Stadium rock was becoming a thing, Disco which was pretty bad but without it, you don't have Studio 54 and the birth of the velvet rope. You got the Ramones who taught us that 2 1/2 minute 3 chord songs were great. The death of Bon gave everyone a wakeup call about over indulging. Hall and Oates demonstrated that repeating the same lyric over and over could work. You had the beginning of Prog Rock and Yes was Progging out like nobody's business. Seger was at his best in the 70's, and KC and the Sunshine band kept dances fun. You knew how to Slow Ride because Foghat told you how. The huge increases of one hit wonders was there in the 70's. Neil Diamond and John Denver were ballad writing fools in the 70's and both were huge. Without the 70's dance craze, the Bee Gees fade out early on in their careers. We found out about the Year Of The Cat and The Band danced their Last Waltz in the 70's. We saw T Rex's and Werewolves Of London. We sang Waterloo loud and out of tune driving down the highway, and finally, we know now that Video Killed The Radio Star long before MTV.

It was a great time for music and I barely touched the surface.

My first 45 may have been Indian Reservation by Paul Revere and the Raiders or it may have been Saturday in the park by Chicago,
