I think the new strike zone will help Judge. You don't get Judges numbers and 3 MVPs by only killing bad pitching.

For a player of ARods ability there should have been much more. Years of futility. 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2010, 2011, etc. And he did have a great 09 series, but that team was stacked. Posada, Tex, Cano, Jeter, Arod, Damon, Gardner and Matsui. Sabathia, Pettite and Burnette. And Rivera to close it out.

Judge's postseason futility numbers are quite sizable. Even Bob Costa was saying that it can no longer be ignored.

How does 1 phenomenal postseason break his reputation as a poor clutch performer? His overall PS performance is gruesome. That one postseason makes his average postseason numbers look respectable with a career .822 OPS, but that number masks multiple series where he posted sub .300 OPSs and other series where he posted sub .400 OPSs. Not to even mention the .500, .600 and .700 OPS series. At one point in the PS, Joe Torre dropped him in the lineup to 8th. And an .822 OPS for a player of his caliber making an unprecedented 27 million/year is not even respectable. Like Judge, ARod is the guy youre counting on to produce, and his track record in the postseason was many more failures than expected for a player of his caliber.

Much the same can be said about Judge in the postseason. Over his last 12 postseason series dating back to 2019 he has posted exactly three with an OPS > .800. This for a guy who routinely posts regular season OPSs>1.000. He posted one at .872, another at .836, both far cries from his regular season performance. Only once in the last 12 series did he post an OPS over 1.000 and that was last year in the series where they got manhandled by Toronto. Those 3 series are also notable for his power outage despite the OPS numbers. The Yankees dont manufacture runs. They are heavily reliant on the HR to score. So when the guy youre paying 40 million/year and counting on has a power outage, youre not going to win. You mention 17 career PS homers. In how many PAs? Nearly 300. That equates to about 36 HRs in a full season. Thats a far cry from his regular season numbers.

Guys like ARod and Judge are regular season stat compilers who fade when you need them the most. Thats the problem with the NYY. They are enamored of guys like this and give them the big money. Then they get cheap and let a guy like Soto leave. Soto is money in the playoffs. Soto Career postseason OPS>Soto regular season OPS >>> Judge's career postseason OPS. This is not how the Yankees used to be run. They prioritized guys who werent afraid to succeed in October-- Reggie, Bernie Williams, Jeter, Oneil, Tino-- all winners when it mattered. Cashman is stale in his job and Little Stein is content to be an also-ran as long as he is making money.

Drove down to Atlanta from NC for the A's series. Welp as expected only won 1 and looked like dogshit the rest of the time smh. Our batting needs to pick it up or we will easily finish last in the division.

On the bright side, I saved 30 bucks today by switching to Progressive.
