Succession Plan

Probably doesn’t need its own thread but I thought it would be Brady. Or is that still Brady?

A couple years ago id have voted yes but im comfortable with the new direction of Brady being the football guy from the owners box and a future combo of Brady and Egon. So Id now vote no.

Current control looks like the same as future control. Brady's people. Sure Mark still has ultimate power, but if he lets them do pretty much anything, then we are getting a good dosage of that new ownership already. Fairly unique situation.

Mark doesn’t have the balls to overrule Brady imo. I think any future criticism of anything on the field ultimately goes on Brady and his guys.

Don't know why you keep bringing the business end up, but refusing to admit that Mark has had many many chances to get things right on the field, but has failed miserably. Reread and grasp what I said...the Yankees are mired in mediocrity which comes from his Son who had the franchise GIVEN to him by his Father George and has since never put together a championship team of his own design.
The same thing is true of Mark. He has yet, regardless of the many opportunities, even scratched the surface of the concept of "Commitment to Excellence".

They don't give Lombardi Trophies for Mark being "a nice guy", much less than being labeled as a supposed "genius", nor do they give them to a team whose owner was GIVEN one of the most famous and most recognizable sports brands ever and has taken it absolutely nowhere, except to an abyss.
its a family owned business and as a business mark has done miracles financially, despite his failing to make a winner, nobody disputes the team has sucked since he took it over, nobody disputes what al davis left him was a shambles of a business on and off the field either

ps hasn't the ny yankees continued to appreciate as a franchise and has also been a perennial winner yrs in and yr out despite not winning a title ??? i mean they were just in the world series a few yrs ago but ran into a buzz saw called the dodgers whom r owned by a hedgefund that routinely throws massive money at the players, george used to tbe the big dog in free agency but the steinbrenner family no longer is the richest guys in the game...that honor now goes tot he dodgers ...so the comparison of his son are not completely fair

no need for tylenol "the proof is already on the table" davis family was worth about 450 million when mark took charge, davis family is now worth almost 5 billion, raider franchise was worth about 900 million when mark took over, its now worth 10 billion

lol, I’m in this conversation for the fun. I don’t give a rats ass about Mark and I don’t look at him as a genius miracle worker. He was handled the franchise on a silver platter and multiple people steered him to Vegas. Good for him.

I’m friends with a guy who simply attracts money. He has built several businesses and sold them as well as multiple entrepreneurial services and products. He is one of those guys that if you took everything he owns and every asset from him today, he would likely be a millionaire or more again within a year. He is that good at creating and building. Let me ask you this: If Mark owned nothing today and didn’t have a penny to his name, would he be a millionaire this time next year? Is he a “miracle” worker and “genius”?

yes, he would...im basing this on all of the friends and connections he has built since he took over the raiders, they matter a lot when it comes to success

Tried to explain it for you but I cannot understand it for you.

If Mark had not been fortunate enough to be Al's Son, he probably would have ended up as a pastry chef.

Mark is not a genius. How hard is this to understand. He barely graduated from Chico state. He needed much smarter men and business men than he was to get the stadium deal done. Hell, had McCallum not stepped in, no way in hell could he have gotten a meeting with Adelson. And without Jones, no way in hell does he get a meeting with BoA. And without Badain's financial knowledge, the deal would have been far worse.

raidersince63 wrote: Sun Mar 22, 2026 5:55 am I've been going through a very similar situation with another team. I've been a NY Yankee fan since I was 6 but since Hal Steinbrenner took over for his father George things have changed. And IMO, much of the subsequent, and more recent mediocre results for the Yanx and the abysmal results for the Raiders are directly the result of poor leadership/ownership.

Both franchises were once owned by very competitive and passionate and savvy individuals who took over struggling teams and turned them into powerhouses, But neither Hal or Mark possess that same fire and passion for success and winning.

We can deem Hal or Mark as a "genius" or "doofus" all we want but in both instances it still comes down to "accountability".

If there's accountability for players, there should also be accountability for management, and more importantly, if there's accountability for management, there should therefore also be accountability for ownership.

...and the "buck stops" with ownership.
No offense intended in any way, but damn those Yankee fans. Complaining about the state of the team when they were in the World Series in 2024. Must be nice.

That's what I was thinking. If Judge makes an appearance at all they won a WS that year.

And I think they’ve been in the playoffs 8 of the last 9 years. Not an easy feat.
