I think it's a big factor. The state of Washington just enacted a "millionaires tax." Seattle's GM John Schneider recently commented on its potential impact on free agency.

Bad move. A million ain’t all that much these days. Now a “Billionaire Tax”, all for it.

I think it's a bit overrated. Several other states have it so it's not unique to Nevada. Is it a factor? Sure, but I don't think it's the first thing any player thinks of

You don't because you are still a millionaire and billionaire after the tax.
And don't worry everyone else is still being taxed, there isn't no running out of.
I hope you are a millionaire + Xramfan, always vote for your own interests.

On FA:
I don't think it effects it much. Yeah perhaps in some cases if two offers are on the table and to that player it's the deciding factor. I feel that is pretty rare, very low %, but don't take my feelings on it.

The proof I use... All teams sign free agents each year. States that tax still get players, states that tax also win SB's. So aren't those easy bottom lines to see vs opinion, no?

On Washington state tax, after a little reading. There is no state income tax currently. After this there will be for anyone making over 1 million. Any income under that isn't taxed, just anything above. So Washington becomes a state that now will have an income tax for income only over 1 million. So it's still less then a state with a general income tax. There are only 8 states with no income tax AND only 3 with NFL teams.

Who says they're evil? That's what you must think by bringing it up.

So I added the WA tax to the end, please read it and only 3 NFL states are now state income tax free.
So a small percentage of players get this savings.

So are you voting for your interests or others?

Not sure what you are asking regarding what I vote for. I suspect like most others I vote for what’s best for the Country collectively but that is of course very subjective.

I’m more or less a Laffer curve guy when it comes to taxation.
When taxes get too high, wealthy individuals often change how they report income, utilize loopholes, or shift investments into tax-exempt assets, meaning the expected revenue never actually shows up.

On your voting, I hope you vote for your own interests that's all, nothing more.

But i think some of the things I added are good info to know:
WA was a state with no income tax, one of 8.
This isn't an all encompassing states tax, just income above a million, that's still less than states that tax everyone.
That leaves 7 states with no income tax and only 3 of those states have NFL teams, so very few players overall get this savings.

On when taxes get too high loopholes are looked for, I agree loopholes are always being studied. What's too high? WA still looks cheaper than most here, however someone can think that is too high. Is 1% or 2% considered not that high that I'm not looking for a loophole or cheat? I don't know.

To the article, "can we compete in WA?, woes me!", well almost all other teams have had a state tax and they compete. I don't think we've ever heard of a team stating "we can't compete because of taxes and because of this those FL, TX and TN teams just keep winning rings".

He seems somewhat worried about millionaires and billionaires taxes, if he's one that's cool.

If not, they will always vote in their best interest, we should study that phenomenon for personal use.

It's a bit more complicated than that. Politics aside there are reasons why Jeff Bezos, Starbucks, Boeing and a multitude of corporations are leaving or are planning on leaving. In terms of revenue some of these players command earnings that exceed some corporations. A NFL franchise is a billion dollar operation. This will continue to be a factor players and agents consider.

It's a factor, no one said it's necessarily a deal breaker. GM's and player agents are masters at fiscal creativity.
