He also got rid of our long snapper for "his guy" from the pats, then our old long snapper went to the Cowboys and they have one of the best FG units in the NFL.

I agree that we should have kept Ingold. But we didn't cut him, his contract expired and he signed with Miami as a FA. Mark van Eeghen often played FB but he was always used more as a halfback though his blocking was instrumental in Super Bowl XI. In my opinion Steve Smith is tops amongst Raider FB's. Marcus Allen lined up a FB when Bo was in the backfield and played that position in college when Charles White was SC's lead back.
I always felt that Jon Ritchie was all hype. Had he not had that WWF gash on his forehead every game I doubt he would be given a second thought.
We could draft Diego Pavia in the back of the draft and convert him to FB.

I like this signing for a multitude of reasons. He is not a game changer, he is not going to have that game winning run in all likelihood. But he is going to make us better in subtle ways.
He can block. Mendoza's game is based on time in the pocket. A blocking FB is one of the rookie QB's best friends. He can block down, this will make Jeanty's game better and that makes Mendoza better because, again Mendoza is at his best when he has a good running game. And he can line up at TE and Mendoza shines in 13 personnel sets.
