I'd agree with that a lot but it just blows my mind how we'll draft shit shows early on...people who no ones knows or believes in, people with major issues and problems but then say 7th round picks we won't take a proven player. That is what 100% has pissed me off the most.
2012 - 7th Round - We select LB Nathan Stupar Penn St. --- LB Vontaze Burfict - Arizona St on board
2013 - 2nd Round - We select OT Menelik Watson - FSU --- Name a player, but LB Jamie Collins - Southern Miss.
2015 - 7th Round - We select CB Dexter McDonald - Kansas --- OT/OG La'el Collins - LSU on the board....what, was he really not gonna play in the NFL? BS...take him and force his hand or sit out and don't get paid....look at the shit we selected, that is a risk worth taking!
I could go on and on but I think most know these things and get the point.

All of the shitty drafts highlight how vital it is to have a great talent evaluator in your organization.
Raiders had one of the greatest talent evaluators of all time in HOFer Ron Wolf which is a huge reason for the greatness of our ancient past. Since he got shown the door the Raiders have been shit except for 4 years in the middle of 40 years of shit.
If once again Al's f[raiders_icon]cking huge ego hadn't f[raiders_icon]cked things up during that 4 year span we would have had our
4th Super Bowl trophy already. Not just with shipping gruden off but having the gameplan changed at the last minute. If it wasn't you Al who did not ultimate stupid call then whomever did may he rot in hell too. Running the ball down tampon bay's throats would have been glorious to experience. Raiders would have destroyed that day...instead.....f[raiders_icon]ck the asshole to hell that made that change.

Tre Tucker is a better and more valuable player so even the curve is off. Mayer is a below average TE, he has nice hands but is slow and gets manhandled in the run game. He also missed time due to mental health issues so his issues aren’t just limited to on-field.LesterHayesHOFer wrote: Tue Feb 17, 2026 3:22 pm I like Michael Mayer, but B in my opinion is generous. I guess if they are grading on a curve then yeah he's a B compared to the rest of the wasteland.- These users gave a High Five to the author Corleone for the post (total 2):

Im glad to see others who are not enamored with Mayer. He is just meh all around. Not a horrible player but not the beast many think he is. A solid backup who does nothing great not an underused studCorleone wrote: Wed Feb 18, 2026 12:20 am Tre Tucker is a better and more valuable player so even the curve is off. or thier inability to develop.Coach dd 11 wrote: Tue Feb 17, 2026 7:28 pm This is 100% the real and true problem with the Raiders football team. They can't draft for shit!
I "play" arm-chair GM like a lot of people and my draft looked nothing like this shit-turd team.
While it is never real, we waste way to many picks and not many pan out at all.
Take Jack Bech. Im sure Pete and company had a vision in a system for him but does the new staff have the same vision?
Last 4 years 4 new HCs.
You can not build on last year when last year no longer exists. It's a start over.
Yes, we've drafted poorly to say the least but the continues change in coaching is more damaging imo.

I agree for the most part but I will say if Mayer is still on the team next year, I do not think he will be underused in Kubiak's offense. I'd say he's at least as good as AJ Barner, who had a hell of year last year. Just not as good a blocker as Barner.FLORIDARAYDAH wrote: Wed Feb 18, 2026 3:38 am Im glad to see others who are not enamored with Mayer. He is just meh all around. In typical Raider fashion, I think they drafted the Byron Young that they wanted. Which was in fact the worse Byron Young.SuperRaider wrote: Wed Feb 18, 2026 3:55 am Just wondering did the raiders actually draft the wrong Bryan Young;

I have to actually disagree about Tampa/Raiders Super Bowl…I really think if Barret Robbins was playing in that game; then Raiders would have won…you got a 330 pound center who was actually a great run center being replace by a 280 pound center who was just a backup…ELCAraiderfan wrote: Wed Feb 18, 2026 12:04 am All of the shitty drafts highlight how vital it is to have a great talent evaluator in your organization.

I mean the raiders just steamrolled over Titans….
Don’t think the Raiders would have been able to run on Tampa with Treu as the center; Robbins was really a big center that could move; and if he was not ill he might have had HOF career with the raiders…

Mayer would be an above average TE on any team who knew what the f[raiders_icon]ck they were doing.
Has Mayer developed in a system?
Yes
Have the Raiders, ultimately Mark, built a structured management that knows the players and how to utilize them?
Yes
Do we have a coaching staff that knows everything Mayer was taught last year and has a plan to level him up?
Yes.
I hate to waver and ill hold true to the C but in my heart I know the Raiders had no plan or system to utilize Mayer correctly and build his skill set the following year.
On any team that knows what they are doing I think he's a B and thats his ceiling.
And B is not a high grade. Its an 80-84.

Tyree Wilson is an absolute bust. In my eyes anything less than an A is an F.
He was drafted 7th.
I gave him his injury out y1.
In y2 I said to myself its y1 because of injury.
In y3 I expect to see y2 but no.
He plays like he just got here, trash and he's been under the same tutelage.
No development whatsoever.
His get off is the worst in the league, maybe league history.
He has no bend for the outside rush.
He has no inside rush.
He has no punch.
His hand placement sucks so bad I often see tackles holding his arms up by his wrists.
He cant get off blocks or change direction.
The best he has is a poor bull rush and a long arm against the run on occasion. Ive watched TEs victimize him for heavens sake.
I wouldn't count on 2 steps forward this year or any time soon.
That said, his 5y option is 13.9M and im torn because this is the king of clown who will finally show up y5 or 6 as Raider luck would have it.

He’s not wearing a gold jacket anytime soon but I wouldn’t say he is below average.Corleone wrote: Wed Feb 18, 2026 12:20 am Tre Tucker is a better and more valuable player so even the curve is off. So far his mental issue appears to be a one time deal (fingers crossed)
Maybe he had a bad experience with Mark Davis at a Chuck E Cheese luncheon or something. Who knows?

That is who I had on my board!
Al Davis: Behind the Raiders Shield
Good book to read from the insiders perspectives on what happened most years on draft day. It is crazy to think who the team guys wanted vs. how and why Al overruled them. For someone who was once great, he truly killed this team in the end.
