The only perfect game I have ever witnessed was Super Bowl XVIII. I recently watched it in its entirety, commercials and all and to say we completely dominated understates what happened.

Yes, we gave up a few points but the Raiders beat the Redskins in all phases of the game. Scoring TD's on offense, defense and special teams. When Al Davis used to talk dominating, take what want, vertical football, the QB must go down hard, etc...Super Bowl XVIII was what he envisioned.

That Redskin team was stacked and we completely took their world apart, as Rod Martin would say "abused them."

Joe Theisman would later to say. "The handed us our asses on a platter and the plater was bent."

In my opinion, the play of that game wasn't Marcus's version of 17-Bob-Trey-O, or Squirek's pic 6. It was when Ray Guy high jumped one handed and brought in Christensen's errant snap. At that point the game was still contested that play could have changed the entire tenor of things. Momentum can be funny thing.

Very good day to be a Raiders fan and If I remember correctly, the Redskins were the slight favorites.

I don’t know; if Al never traded Gruden; the raiders might have won a superbowl or two; Gruden and Gannon did work really well together; think Gannon might have moved on to OC if Gruden was still HC of raiders….

Have to say…trading Gruden was one of Al Davis worst moves ever; the guy really turned the raiders around and they were a force…think if Gruden had 10 years with the raiders on first time he would have had 100 wins

...no, it isn't hard to say at all.....Bruce kicked the cap can as far down the road as he absolutely could have, and everyone knew that we would be paying for many guys who would no longer be with the team teh coming year, and we would be paying them for years.....everyone knew that literal and no longer avoidable 'cap hell' was 'here'.

Not trying to break up the Gruden fest, but I saw about 8 or 10 SB commercial early releases but only 1 that I thought was worth a damn...as usual Budweiser leads the way, and being from the south the backing song kinda hits home too.

What I've learned in my SB research is that Mike Macdonald is a lower case "d"...... like the great Norm Macdonald.

It was 2002 or bust. I was against the Gruden trade but the window was closing and the team was aging. The only reason the trade imploded as it did was that we faced Gruden in the Super Bowl and Al made poor use of the draft and financial capital Tampa gave up for Gruden.

I doubt Gruden would have coached the team beyond 2004 anyways.
