Kubiak is exactly what we hoped we would have gotten last year with Johnson. We waited out a brutal year and appear to have both a promising Coach and QB.

There’s a ton of work to be done! The coaching staff needs to be ironed out, a free agent class aggressively attacked, not to mention preparation for the upcoming draft…..

Now, let Kubiak assemble HIS staff and focus on what The Raiders need and make a good showing at the combine.

Good post. My priorities are on getting the best development for Mendoza now. We have the offensive architect and the true OC at HC. Now we need a good oline coach and the right QB coach to work with him day to day. Then we need to improve the talent and depth on the oline so we can protect Mendoza and help him out by leaning on the run while he learns.

Aside from that, I'm less concerned with the staff additions in 2026. Obviously we want the staff to be filled with homerun hires, but it's ok if we have some misses and have to make some changes next year. 2026 doesn't need to be filled with wins, just growth. It's key that Kubiak have the freedom to hire who he wants to hire - Spytek and Brady can support that effort with contacts and collaboration, but the decisions need to be Kubiak's.

I consider 2026 to basically be the 2027 preseason.

Minnesota Vikings (2013–2014): Served as offensive quality control and assistant wide receivers coach.
University of Kansas (2015): Coached wide receivers, further honing his offensive expertise.
Denver Broncos (2016–2018): Held positions as offensive assistant and later as quarterbacks coach, contributing to the team’s offensive strategies.
Minnesota Vikings (2019–2021): Elevated to quarterbacks coach and subsequently promoted to offensive coordinator in 2021, succeeding his father, Gary Kubiak.
Denver Broncos (2022): Rejoined as passing game coordinator and quarterbacks coach, with interim play-calling duties in November 2022.
San Francisco 49ers (2023): Served as passing game coordinator, further expanding his offensive coaching repertoire.
New Orleans Saints (2024): Appointed as offensive coordinator, leading the team’s offensive strategies.
Seattle Seahawks (2025–Present): Hired as offensive coordinator, bringing his extensive experience to the team.
Las Vegas Raiders....(2026-Present): Hired as head coach to try where others failed to bring an organization back to relevance.

Grading the Klint Kubiak Hire

The son of longtime NFL head coach and Super Bowl winner Gary Kubiak, Klint Kubiak has been an offensive coordinator in the league each of the last two seasons. He spent 2024 as the OC for the New Orleans Saints, moving to Seattle at the end of the year with the Saints’ decision to fire then-head coach Dennis Allen.

In addition to the past two seasons, he was also the OC for the Minnesota Vikings in 2021, replacing his father in the role. He was not retained once the Vikings fired then-head coach Mike Zimmer.

The Seahawks had the ninth-best PFSN Offense Impact Score at 79.8 in 2025 with Kubiak calling the plays. In the regular season, Sam Darnold surpassed 4,000 passing yards, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba led the league with 1,793 receiving yards. Strong rushing performances from Kenneth Walker and Zach Charbonnet added to the mix, as well.

Counting interim coaches, the Raiders will have had six head coaches over the last six seasons by the end of 2026. They’ve been in desperate need of some stability, though the chance to finally get a long-term answer at quarterback should help.

Kubiak will be inheriting a Las Vegas offense presumably led by Mendoza, featuring the likes of Brock Bowers and Ashton Jeanty as offensive weapons, as well. That in itself gives him an incredible core of skill position players to work with.

The rest of the Raiders’ roster is a work in progress. Their defense has several needs at each level of the field, and their offense could use some boosts to the trenches, as well. It could also benefit them to push for a bona fide No. 1 wide receiver.

Kubiak has his work cut out for him in Las Vegas, because not only is the roster a work in progress, but the AFC West is one of the most competitive divisions in the NFL. Maneuvering those factors as a first-time head coach could be difficult, but that’s hardly to say it’s impossible that he steers them in the right direction.

If the Raiders are patient with his development, Kubiak should be just fine there. The first year or two could be ugly, but he has an offense that has some tantalizing young prospects, as well as the backing of Tom Brady within the organization. This could end up being a productive partnership, but it might take a while.
