I would add not only was it stooooopid to have #2 out there might as well not have anybody out there that Spytek knows we would like to retain. And yes, they give us the deal they got from GB for Parsons...Corleone wrote: Sun Jan 04, 2026 5:13 pm Pete was determined to fck this franchise today, and Spytek made a near grave error in not IR'ing Jeanty, but it worked out thanks to Jerray! We owe a lot to the Cowboys right now, and we should repay them by giving them Maxx for their two first rounders. It's the right thing to do!

I was what I was hoping for. A Cowboy loss handed us the first pick and we beat the Chiefs. Not a bad way to end such as a crummy season. If it is to be Fernando (we have a lot of time to speculate). I am hoping he and the right coaching change can lead this team to a new era of football. A vastly better one. Maxx being on the sideline was encouraging.
As so far as I am concerned it was a great day.
Now let's see if Pete survives black tomorrow. There is a lot to sort out prior to the Super Bowl.

Looking at it like this doesn’t make it seem so bad. #1 overall is what really matters.DrDUne wrote: Sun Jan 04, 2026 5:07 pm Rd 2 - 33 to 36

Round 3 and 4 has minimal value difference. Round 2 is a bit of a hit but ultimately I am super happy about mendoza and we still have excellent draft pick value overallDrDUne wrote: Sun Jan 04, 2026 5:07 pm Rd 2 - 33 to 36

I hated the trade but what’s done is done and crying about an early 5th isn’t worthwhile. I’d rather have it than not but it’s water under the bridge at this point.Corleone wrote: Sun Jan 04, 2026 5:07 pm Essentially a late 4th round pick.
Guys here were defending that trade while the wiser posters were right to call it out for being a horrible deal. I think we know who was right on that one.
Simply horrible deal.

4th round comp we are getting cancels it out. Every move led us to #1 overall so not going to get hung up on this pick.

nah, I'm still pissed about how bad we f[raiders_icon]cked up this past year, but at least we got Mendoza out of it.Pfish252000 wrote: Sun Jan 04, 2026 5:25 pm I hated the trade but what’s done is done and crying about an early 5th isn’t worthwhile. Sending a pick for a mediocre 2nd string QB didn't make sense.
Multiple years of brain trusts looking at our Oline and not making wholesale changes made no sense.
All water under the bridge. Winning is good (as long as we got the #1 pick). I just hope we don't f[raiders_icon]ck up the draft and a regime change. Spytek stays. Pete goes. Should be able to attract some coachingntalent with the #1 and a bunch of cap space (plus maybe a guaranty that the bowl cut stay in his lane).

I’m pissed about the last 23 years but I’ve learned not to stress about it as much as I get older.Corleone wrote: Sun Jan 04, 2026 5:28 pm nah, I'm still pissed about how bad we fcked up this past year, but at least we got Mendoza out of it.

I think Spytek made some mistakes in his 1st year but I think he is smart and humble enough to learn from them.rhumbob wrote: Sun Jan 04, 2026 5:30 pm Sending a pick for a mediocre 2nd string QB didn't make sense.

Well look at that a silver lining on what would have been the worst season otherwise. Shell 2.0 we knew before the season started what we had.
Geno is way better than what he showed here, we have video proof of that. It's like the first game he looks good and by game 5 we/he knew he was going to be beaten to death and was done. The last few years we've made QB's look way worse than what they've done in the past. A good part of that has to be on our end with such consistency.
We'll have the first pick in the second, we'll have an evening listening to see if others have a player they want to move up for.
We need a new staff, I guess less GM.
Reviewing last years draft, very little has been answered after one season, no one really popped.
Getting rid of Jacoby means a WR has to be on the docket, which perhaps it wouldn't have been otherwise.
Proven OL in FA has to be the target, no reason to waste even year one of Mendoza like the Bears did with Williams. You got the QB, you have to protect him. I'd put damn near whatever it takes to fix this, if the D sucks there will be more years to fix that, not that you we won't get any D.

Dallas has two first rounders, which they may very well give for Maxx.LayneStaley wrote: Sun Jan 04, 2026 5:04 pm I hope we trade our second on night 1 to get back into the first and draft another starter.

If the future of this team depends on choosing between #33 and #36, we're entirely f[raiders_icon]cked anyway. Same with the rest of the draft spots.BoKnows81 wrote: Sun Jan 04, 2026 5:08 pm The 2nd round drop hurts (even if only a few spots) whether people want to admit it or not. The other rounds not so much. Yes, the ultimate goal was to get #1 in the 1st but we still lost value. Maybe with a competent front office, we'll trade back into the 1st and it will be irrelevant (somewhat).

I highly doubt it. Dallas needs cost controlled assets. I see other teams going harder for MaxxOpoponax50 wrote: Sun Jan 04, 2026 5:40 pm Dallas has two first rounders, which they may very well give for Maxx.
