Was my first thought! Not that it matters a ton, but I enjoy the 'rooting interest' it creates.

Sucks because Jakobi was sure handed and a character guy. . I think he's playing lacklaster because of this whole contract weighing on him. The way this was handled from the beginning was suspect. Its been reported that Jakobi wasn't asking so much. Now, I will grant that maybe I(or many of us) overlooked his blocking etc. previously because he was so sure handed and was pretty clutch catching the ball.. Maybe the brass and coaching saw it on tape, wanted to see him play first hand and that's why the contract was never dealt? I don't know, this just hasn't sat well with me from the beginning. The compensation is obviously better than expected, but that expectation was set up by what looked like fumbling of handling the situation earlier.

Maybe someone with access to the all film can tell me if his blocking etc. was suspect before?

Another note, Bech was supposedly much like Jakobi and blocks and does the dirty work, so maybe, just maybe that is why we are here. IF he pans out then the optics become much better on this to me.

Or did we trade our original 5th?
We still have our own 5th. Listing without projected comp picks, and after the Jag trade:

As someone mentioned Bech needs to play. It would be nice to have him turn out to be another piece for the offense on a rookie contract.

Good trade but hopefully the jags keep winning and make the playoffs cause that would keep the chiefs out which would be amazing

Looks like I found some bad info in my previous post. One of the 4ths and The 5th rounder are projected comp picks. So we did move our own 5th rounder.

ACLs generally regain pre injury explosion around the 18th month. He was not going to do much this year. I would have liked to sign him to a 2 year deal. Now the guys who was not here to see him do what he did in 2023, will just pass on him. He'll go elsewhere and get the same 12M and put up 10 sacks over 16 games.

Then why would anyone give up anything for them?

Blocking is what he excelled at; the "sure handed" reputation was exclusive to last season on the Raiders. This season it looked to me like Meyers was half assing it when it came to blocking.

Multiple runs against the Jags, Jeanty would get to the second level, and Meyers would wiff and allow his man to stop Jeanty in his tracks. Go back and watch and see for yourself. Meyer's man is the one that makes the tackle.

The Jeanty run up the middle against the Patriots goes for a touchdown if not for Meyers whiffing on his block.

Jeanty had a run to the left against the Chargers that goes for a touchdown if not for Meyers with a lazy block.

There are many, many examples of Meyers purposely whiffing on blocks on Jeanty runs.
