What changes should the coaching staff make during the bye

Unread post by STHfrontrow »

What changes should Pete and staff make during the bye?

I think Geno is cooked and if O'Connell is ready he should be starting. Geno is not some newly drafted 1st round pick going through growing pains. Maybe, O'Connell can give the team a spark.

Try adjusting the O-line a bit but I'm sure the coaches think they're playing the best combo of players in that group. Worth trying something new?

Thoughts on what adjustments can be made?

Actually, the production was because Jack just let loose with everything. He was fearless that year. The change the next season was due to a more protective Jack, a strange behind the scenes thing before the Washington game and an OC who knew jack shit

IIRC, and I think I do, didn't the Nine Year Rookie lobby for his buddy QB coach to be the OC?

The duo was sensational for two entire games. At the end of that season, one was sent packing and the other hung around like a bad cold for five more years.

They weren’t even that good for those two games. They won but the offense looked much worse than the year before right off the bat. Downing’s Raider O was famous for having more than one receiver in the same place when the ball arrived.

It seems to me that all the team's problems begin with the offensive line. It seems like the offensive line doesn't exist on most plays. If we add to that the fact that Geno Smith doesn't react well to pressure and the receivers can't separate quickly, it's logical that the offense doesn't work. Meredith is a good guard and a terrible center. I don't understand the insistence on changing positions.

The success in 2016 was player-driven (Carr, Murray, the O-Line, Crabtree, and Cooper)
Yeah but we will never know what would have happened if Musgrave was still OC in 2017….when everything is working do you really want to make a change ….I know we can say Musgrave did nothing in Denver; but he did not have same talent to work with when he went there….

I know we hashed it out years ago, but the swagger and give hell attitude Jack had in 2016 was gone from game one in 2017. And yea, Downing was crap on a cracker. Getting your buddy to do a job he should never have been doing was based on a campaign by the QB because he was "in the running" for the MVP (he was in the running for about 5 games) and he took that swagger and used his influence to get it done.

We seem to be a team that never learns. Then Dufus decided he wanted to dial up the way back machine to bring in a TV cartoon to run the team. The moves he made and his drafts still linger today and the shit stain is everywhere.

People blame the coaching staff today for how bad we are, but the regimes that came before him are also to blame. The cupboard was bare and we all should have known it.

People are finally seeing the effects of pissing away 5 first rd picks, horrible trades and free agents signings and firing coaches every other year. The past few hires Mark has made, he's clearly given the hc more control than the gm. It seems he may have done it again with this hire. Hire a GM, get the f[raiders_icon]ck out of the building and let the GM do his f[raiders_icon]cking job. It's not really hard concept.

The one common denominator in this is Mark himself. Im not really sure why people are saying to get rid of this regime already & start over. It's what Mark has been doing for the past decade. Now don't get me wrong, there should be some staff changes but clearing house again isn't the right answer. Until Mark either sells or completely steps aside, this organization will continue to be rudderless
