There's not a lot of detail about this incident, which seems weird. I can't imagine he was alone, but no mention of others. Reading between the lines (hazy at best) seems like it might have been a pub disagreement that got out of hand.

Yeah, I don't like that the players have to travel internationally for games, so many disadvantages for the participating teams that go beyond just the game day stuff. Other than more money for the NFL, what's the point?

The Pittsburgh Steelers experienced an unfortunate situation leading up to the NFL's first game in Ireland. Skylar Thompson suffered minor injuries after assailants jumped and robbed the backup quarterback Friday night in Dublin. Thompson, who is on injured reserve, is OK and back with the team ahead of Sunday's game against the Minnesota Vikings.

"We are aware of a situation involving Skylar Thompson on Friday night in Dublin," Steelers senior director of communications Burt Lauten said in a statement, via NFL Media. "We will have no further comment at this time as we are working with NFL security to gather more information regarding the incident."

No doubt about that. Short week for one team, playing another getting extra rest.

Kickoffs was viewed as where concussions happened often, so add 5 yards to the kicking to get touchbacks. Then it became a boring aspect of the game, could have just put the ball at the 20 after scores. No onside,nothing. Nope brings it back, must announce on side kicks, boring.

One thing I wish they would do, is the victim of an unnecessary roughness play, should be medical tented immediately, a helmet to helmet, both players should be medical tented. Roughing the passer, medical tented, regardless if there was no signs.

Goodell wants 1 international game for 16 weeks a season, translation, every team will play internationally.

Crime in Ireland is actually lower than in the US and it is not even close. If the NFL operated in Ireland, the players would actually be safer. Maybe Goodell should move the teams there to protect the players and offer up player safety.

That said, Temple Bar and the surrounding area are riskier than other areas in Dublin, not hugely but a bit. I hung out in the area nonstop and never saw an issue. My hotel was within walking distance the last time I was there and never felt I was in danger.

Oh and Ward just threw a crazy pass and connected.

That story is just plain weird at this point. Usually we would have a lot of details about the incident. All we have two days later is "he got jumped, he didn't get seriously hurt." So what happened? Did he get drunk and pick a fight with some Irishmen? Is something being covered up?
