Bosa has an ACL - trade Maxx to the 49ers?
Someone posted in a thread after our loss that we should trade Maxx Crosby for a bunch of (needed) draft picks, thereby increasing our odds of picking at or near the top of the draft in 2026. As we all know, the 49ers just lost a key player on their defense -- after Fred Warner he is their most important defensive player -- and their d-line is not that deep and full of young players. And, the 49ers are in first place in the NFC West and will likely be battling for a playoff spot this season.
At first blush, I am against trading the best player we have drafted in what 25 years. But, in my frustration with the whole damn thing, I am thinking about this. The trade deadline is early November, so you likely will want to see if Carroll and staff can get this bad act together, but unless we start looking a lot better, there will be talk of trades and even, gasp, "tanking." Thoughts?

I'd be willing to bet if you asked 5 gm's to choose between Maxx and Micah, Micah gets picked all 5 times

In a perfect world, I’d do this in a heartbeat if I were GM and soak them for plenty of 1sts. However, the Raiders can’t draft. We’ve known this for years & years. Since 2020, we have 5…FIVE…serviceable players. We can’t scout talent apparently. We can’t evaluate talent and we can’t build from college talent. They almost never pan out and the handful of studs they DID find, does not a serviceable roster make. Yes, yes, I know, “Draft is a crapshoot, blah, blah, blah.”
Funny how we NEVER beat the house but others do.
We’d ship off Maxx, get 1 or more 1st round picks, and waste them. It’s what the Raiders do.

Could very well be, but Maxx is right behind him.Hellbound wrote: Tue Sep 23, 2025 6:45 pm I'd be willing to bet if you asked 5 gm's to choose between Maxx and Micah, Micah gets picked all 5 times

For the same money yeah, but not for 50 million per year Micah.Hellbound wrote: Tue Sep 23, 2025 6:45 pm I'd be willing to bet if you asked 5 gm's to choose between Maxx and Micah, Micah gets picked all 5 times

It would be immaterial. The stadium is already loaded with fans from the visiting team.FlyBono24 wrote: Tue Sep 23, 2025 3:39 pm Not to mention the fans that would feel this organization is selling off their fan-favorite players.
That's a great way to increase fan attendance!!

Interesting responses. We are so beaten down, we are not up in arms about trading Maxx. For me, I honestly don't know if I would do it, but I lean to being OK with trading him. I want a player from the Niners too though, like the young LB Dee Winters. But, yes, I am wary of getting the 49ers picks because they are likely to be low in the round.

Micah's much more of a game wrecker than Maxx. Listen, Maxx is good but Micah's on another levelrich72 wrote: Tue Sep 23, 2025 8:48 pm For the same money yeah, but not for 50 million per year Micah.

Can’t believe I’m saying it but I have to agree - it’s hard seeing this team be competitive enough in the next couple of years to justify it if another team offers great draft capital.
The aspect that GMs also care greatly about is the contract. Maxx’ contract doesn’t look too bad now that the other top edge rushers have reset the market multiple times. Parsons 4 year contract is significantly more expensive. Maxx’ cap hit over the next few years is certainly manageable.
That being said, it would be depressing. Rarely is your best player also the hardest worker and true team leader. Brutal.

If it were Myles Garrett, I would say no.
Controversial, but Maxx is overrated. We're closer to having a good offense than a good defense. If we are able to take those picks and upgrade our guard spots, it would be worth dealing Crosby.

I love Maxx but given the state of the franchise we have to consider it.
We need picks and won’t be competitive for a title for a few years and by then Maxx will be in trending down.
It might be in the best interests of both for him and the Raiders.

Yeah but our current draft class is looking worse by the week. Neither DT or OL we drafted was even active and the 2 later picks were cut. I’m not so sure we have the right guys making the picks. Spy has really disappointed everyone thinking Cappa is all he had to sign on the line.

Might be a good idea to trade Brock Bower also….because we will be getting a new HC after Carroll had his two years to right the ship and it will starting all over again for like the 19th time….
Also we should trade JPJ as we have no place for him on the line; could get a good 3rd round pick for him
