Bosa has an ACL - trade Maxx to the 49ers?
Someone posted in a thread after our loss that we should trade Maxx Crosby for a bunch of (needed) draft picks, thereby increasing our odds of picking at or near the top of the draft in 2026. As we all know, the 49ers just lost a key player on their defense -- after Fred Warner he is their most important defensive player -- and their d-line is not that deep and full of young players. And, the 49ers are in first place in the NFC West and will likely be battling for a playoff spot this season.
At first blush, I am against trading the best player we have drafted in what 25 years. But, in my frustration with the whole damn thing, I am thinking about this. The trade deadline is early November, so you likely will want to see if Carroll and staff can get this bad act together, but unless we start looking a lot better, there will be talk of trades and even, gasp, "tanking." Thoughts?

Crosby is currently 28 years old. Mack was 27 when Gruden traded him.

We have a real GM. His name is John Spytek. Maybe you've heard of him.Sloth_Fratelli wrote: Tue Sep 23, 2025 12:28 pm Me too….but i want a real GM making picks with a new staff

I would consider it for a 1st round pick. He’s always had an excellent motor but his stats have started to regress from the 2023 season and I’m not sure he’s gifted enough to be nearly as effective if he loses a step. Commanders rookie RT Josh Conerly struggled in his first two starts giving up 4 sacks and 11 pressures but totally handled Crosby as his lone sack came at the end of the game at garbage time. The OL has been garbage but if Max hasn’t exactly played up to his contract.

Not to mention the fans that would feel this organization is selling off their fan-favorite players.LayneStaley wrote: Tue Sep 23, 2025 11:21 am Would be odd to hire a 74 year old coach and then trade our best player for picks that wouldn’t even completely convey until 2027. Brady and the new hires would basically be saying we give up less than 25% into the season. I doubt that happens.
That's a great way to increase fan attendance!!

No he’s not. Maxx is a good player, but Parsons is a top 3 pass rusher and 26yo.

They gave up 400 yards to a backup QB, so it’s a bad defense even with him. It’s like Mack. He was awesome, but the defense, as a whole, was bottom 1/4 of the league in total defense. Trade him for what they can get and move forward. I shudder at who Spytek drafts and wastes those picks, a la Mayuckles.Attyla wrote: Tue Sep 23, 2025 9:52 am dead money would be an issue. 10M this year and 5M next. Cap savings are good but you are also giving up on your best player on defense.

Saw on another site 50% of tickets sold for Sunday was by Bears fans. Vegas is not a home game. They get better attendance at L.A. than they do Vegas it seems.FlyBono24 wrote: Tue Sep 23, 2025 3:39 pm Not to mention the fans that would feel this organization is selling off their fan-favorite players.

Way too early to make that proclamation. He may or may not be the guy for the job. I’ve got my concerns.Sir Raider Duck, OMS wrote: Tue Sep 23, 2025 1:30 pm We have a real GM. His name is John Spytek. Maybe you've heard of him.

Spytek was one of the highest rated candidates out there
How is that not a real GM, i mean he hasn’t even had a minute to get in the door & fix what needs fixing

WB? Wing back? Wiper buddy? Weapons bunker?CWood24 wrote: Tue Sep 23, 2025 11:32 am 2 1st’s & maybe some change then maybe
You could sort out the WB, OL & replacement DE with 3 1st round pick or at the very least 2 of those position
If Wilson had worked out then it would be a no braider
