The most glaring weakness last night for the Raiders was the complete domination of both the O offensive and defensive lines. Both, were absolutely mauled. It's been a while since I've seen an O line absolutely go backwards pass blocking so fast the QB has no time at all. Maybe a couple of decent runs all in all it was a clinic put on by the Chargers D front. Herbert stood back there all game any pressure? Dance out there for 5-10-15 yds. untouched The Charger O line put on another clinic. May be the worst day for the Raider pass rush in a while. They were moved to the side with ease. Harbaugh was given a playoff caliber team and gets the pleasure of tweaking and fine tuning. Carroll inherited a team on the re-build. One has to wonder what he is going to do. Men against boys in the trenches it's a real problem when you play a team that just has better players in many key positions than you do and, have been playing together for awhile.

O-Line has gotten worse since last season. What has changed. Position Coach/line change/OC.

Not saying the line were world beaters last season, but they were a a hell of a lot better than what we've seen thus far.

From what I remember we had the worst run blocking in the league last year, no? Not saying this year’s version is anything to write home about.

Not saying the oline is good but just saying if you are comparing to a full season last year to just two games this year, that’s foolish

On another note I love Maxx and he is the face of the Raiders D but he was so mediocre yesterday, I sort of hope he reduces his public boasting of his work ethic etc etc until his play can back up his mouth. I need to see him take over games if he wants to discuss being an all time great. Getting a bit tired of his all hat no cattle schtick

We also got rid of Jacobs and gave White the job. How'd that work out? Throw in the fact no defense respected our QB's...

Why the Chargers won: Monday night was a strong pass-blocking game for the Chargers' offensive line, which have shown in the first two weeks of the season that the unit is up to the task of protecting Justin Herbert. The Chargers’ quarterback was pressured on just 25% of his dropbacks in the Week 2 win, and LA's offensive line allowed just seven total pressures and zero sacks. In particular, it was a strong day for right tackle Trey Pipkins III, who permitted zero pressures en route to an 84.0 PFF pass-blocking grade.

Why the Raiders lost: A tough night for Geno Smith in his second start for the Raiders. Part of the issue was that Smith was pressured on 35.4% of his dropbacks, but how he performed in those moments compounded the situation. The Chargers' defense made Smith hold on to the ball for longer, and his average time to throw when pressured was 4.44 seconds, leading to a 39.6 overall PFF grade in those situations.

We have to keep with the run game. We abandon way too early and often. Geno isn’t manning or Brady he shouldn’t be throwing that often.

Out of the gate two good defenses with the Chargers having a very good one.

Decades of organizational disfunction, bad drafting, failure to address the QB situation, inept ownership etc has led us to this point.

This year is going to be rough, anyone expecting some miracle hasn’t been paying attention.

Geno was 3 and 6 on Monday nights before last night. Makes it 3 of his last 4 Also saw 1 and 7 on Thursday nights. So 5 and 13 under the lights. Maybe he's not a prime time player?

It is why I was leery of Darnold. He looked great until the final two games of 2025 where he was in the national spotlight and reverted back to Scooby Doo Sam.

I remember one good play he made in one game, which was a defensed pass in a 4th preseason game against SF.

Yes Herbert had better protection, but there were times when Geno had clean pockets with big plays to be made & was completely inaccurate.

...against a very good defense, and with a line which I think has the potential to be above average, though is learning a new offense, and are dealing with jpj's health and other stuff, and with most of our targets being 1-2 year guys, and with a rookie running back, and the rest in that room having left the powers that be feeling as though they needed to use the 6 pick on one, I would expect them to all look shaky, and they did.
....I think we will have a better handle on the line, at least in several weeks, though with a gimpy bowers, and one veteran wr, it wasn't the biggest challenge for the chargers defense at this time.
....i'd imagine they felt as though, regardless of potential, they didn't have to give the rookie targets any special attention in week 2, when considering the above factors.
...on d, up until however many weeks ago, we had wilkins as part of that group until that bizarre situation played out, so unfortunately, we are forced to try and get some kids up to speed quicker than I am sure that they had intended.....
