Here we go - new coach, new QB, new exciting RB, and a no-name defense. Not the toughest opening day match up possible as the Patriots also have issues. We are clearly in rebuild mode right? So if we lose I hope this board doesn’t go into melt down mode. Have fun with the new product Raiders fans

Chucker and VTRaider, I hadn't heard that at all. Where'd you guys hear or read that? That would be pretty damning if guards were having to make calls. And as we have all heard, Kelly's offense is dense and a lot to take on.

I hadn't heard that guards were making the line calls. But I've heard multiple places that Meredith was handling the line calls really well and more polite declining of comment on JPJ. I heard that as well. Not sure where but multiple reports said he couldn't make the line calls.

I wondered how someone who never played the position (Meredith) was going top fare come game.....Impressed.

I'm also glad that, god forbid an injury happens to Meredith, JPJ can step into that role....

If JPJ can play with the same intensity Cog played with, I'll forgive him a few transgressions.

I guess I missed that. I understand the value of the line calls as a big part of the center position though. I don't give a shit who plays where, as long as we get the best results. I can't say I was terribly happy with the oline today but I'm happy we escaped with a win. I don't think JPJ playing center would have made him play better - I like his potential but that wasn't his best today (I hope).

I hadn't thought of that..... you may be right. I think he can be a really good guard - but it's early and he still has his share of WTF moments.

Agree with the sentiment that JPJ was probably overrated coming into the season. People don’t seem to care much for parham and yet he graded significantly better then JPJ last year per pff. Meredith graded very well last year.

The weird part of our o-line is that individually… there’s really no glaring issue. If you’re going by PFF at least - miller, parham and Meredith both graded in the top quartile of their positions while JPJ and glaze were average. And yet our o-line as a whole was historically bad particularly run blocking.

Part of me wonders if that’s what motivated the change. If you’re going by analytics, it looks like we’re lacking chemistry and execution more than lacking talent. Kind of seen glimpses of it today where for the most part nobody’s getting abused… but good lord every time they ran a twist or sent pressure we had free rushers constantly.

Good to see nothing has changed with the fans here. This was a great win. Week one, traveling east, playing early and tough conditions. Not sure what everyone expected from week 1, but for the first game, I will take it. The only thing I didnt expect was the inability to run the ball and the Oline struggling as much as they did. Other than that, I was pleasantly surprised by the D in the second half, and we are not last in the division standings.
