Bo Jackson/Derrick Henry

I was listening to ESPN radio today and they were talking about Henry being a freak physical specimen. It got me thinking and I am curious how you guys think Bo would have stacked up against Henry if he was able to complete his football career?

In my opinion Bo would have become the standard that every running back would have been judged against.

Yeah, you are right. The Air Jordan brand predates Bo and continues to this day. I would say though for a brief period of time Bo rivaled him maybe even surpassed MJ globally. Remember, Bo knows basketball too...

Jordan is in his own tier without a doubt, but as far as NFL players go, there’s never been a more marketable player. Same goes for MLB, in fact of all the major sports, outside of Air Jordan, there’s never been a bigger marketing campaign than Bo Knows (that I can think of).

If you are talking about singular marketing idea probably right.

But Tiger Woods and Lebron James overall should be well larger, the longevity helps.

For a brief period of time, we had Jordan, Gretzky, Bo, Borg and Tiger all in their prime. What a fcking group.

Just to nitpick Tiger came along later than those other guys.

I agree with the Jordan comparison but I don’t think Tiger was as big of an influence due to the sport he played. As for LeBron never have been a fan just for the fact that no one in basketball will ever compare to Jordan in my lifetime. Possible exception the original basketball magician Dr. J.

I know it’s generational, but it’s MJ all day for me as well. More rings, plus he’d never allow his contract to stand in the way of championships. And for God’s sake, with all the passive-aggressive social media shit it’s no contest for me. I’m a Laker man and Bron has never felt like more than a tourist on the team.

As to MJ and Bo…shit… I’d say there was once a time that they were neck’n’neck as far as being “most recognized”. I think Bo had the crown at a point domestically, but not worldwide. Basketball is much easier and much cheaper to organize games. So worldwide, MJ wins.

Once upon a time though, there were no two bigger names in sports. Be it in the media, advertisement, or our minds. And I don’t think there will ever be a tighter concentration of the public’s attention again.

Edit: I’m reminded on a much much smaller scale how the HR race between Sosa and McGuire captured the public’s attention.
