Any interest in a poker room?

Working on some big site upgrades, going to modernize the forum software, but working hard to keep everything looking the same as it has.

If we brought back a forum currency, would anyone use a poker room? ( with head to head and tournament rooms, chat box etc)

Just curious because I enjoy Texas hold em, but there’d need to be some demand for it cause it would cost a little money for me to set it up ( which I don’t mind if there’s demand for it).

Update, still working on it, it's basically done, but getting the design exactly how I want takes quite a bit of time. If I don't get it done by Friday, it'll have to wait until after the following week as I'm going out of town for a week, but it's close and in July, there will be quite a bit of change, most of it for the better. The one thing I've hesitated to do is the addition of ads to the site, but with the resources the poker room will take up, I'm going to need to put some ads on the site(gonna try to work it so that the major contributors to the site won't see ads based on post count, but may take a little time to set that up). We won't be intrusive popups and shit, but probably one on the top and one on the side as I won't be able to use the donated hosting anymore, the poker room will require a significant upgrade in hosting and if the ads generate a surplus, I'll put it back into the site, I have a lot of other ideas I'd like to add, besides the sportsbook which is definitely next up on the agenda, I'd like a site integrated weekly pick em game, and possibly a fantasy football addition one day, or daily fantasy, I think either is a real possibility and can be done through API. I think it'd be cool if we had more features and made this place into more a Raiders hub than just a forum, although being a forum is always what we'll be about. If we had more features, we could definitely exceed what facebook and twitter offer IMO.

Also, open to any ideas and suggestions.

I've loved this site from the time I washed up here. I hate the Idea of an ad laden site based upon post count. There are some members who are here, or will come here, who may not be able to contribute based upon their financial situation. There are other members based on my experience who love to come to a site and read, keep up with news, and post occasionally....

How will ad blockers affect your desired goal?
Are there enough members here who will donate to see the continued enhancements you wish to implement without the ads?

I do not know what the cost is to run this site or the cost of the upgrades.

The reason I left Carr's site way back in the day was his 2 class member bullshit.

Everybody here I would guess is behind you 100% and would want to see this forum be the best kick ass Raider site on the inter webs.

Any thoughts on a new Forum Header to kick off the new season?

Just throwing thoughts and Ideas out there for the forum consumption. So far there haven't been many thoughts from the masses.

[/quote]Even without the additions, we've already exceeded the shared hosting that Mexican Raider has been gracious enough to donate, he won't so much as say it (because he's such a nice guy), but he's hinted a few times that the site is pushing the boundaries of what our shared hosting can provide.

Gotta pay the bills some how.

I’m guilty of never posting “being a lurker”, I would post more but I don’t have the time to argue/debate meaningless opinions due to a couple members who have nothing else going on in life but this forum…. Yeah a poker room sounds fun, but most members I’m sure come here for Raiders news/discussion, and I’m sure would rather not have ads and no poker -vs- poker and ads… Now I know poker is coming to the site, in conclusion so are ads, why not be able to pay for no ads with your R-Funds (similar to post count), that way your R-Funds are actually worth something? Would make the poker play more meaningful!

This kind of stuff isn't too easy to do, and also will take a developer to set up, another reason for the need to raise funds.

The donate link was at the top of the forum for several years and in that time I had one person donate. Guydon, you’re the man!

How about setting it up where a member can purchase R-Funds (with real money, along with earning funds with post count and likes) to spend in the virtual store, maybe a member can buy a month/year/lifetime without ads… I think the real money for R-Funds in the store would probably support the site (along with the ads of course)?
