And all we heard was our uninformed eye test didn’t mean shit because of his PFF grade being high. A lot of us may not know the Xs& Os as well as the experts, but when it’s your team, most of us have seen such a larger number of snaps than the media, or a new GM coming for that matter, and that’s also why when a new GM comes in they don’t know the players as well as we do and they of course tend to make the majority of their head scratching moves their first few months into the job.

James was not terrible, as chucker said, he was serviceable. He just was not good, and at center you need good/great because there is so much asked of the player.

Not sure if this counts as a transaction - but the Raiders restructured Christian Wilkins contract to create more cap space. Now currently sitting at ~$59.6M.

I had taken this screenshot on March 7th for some reason, and below it, the new cap hit. The restructure does take his 2026 cap hit to a whopping $37.6M, more than Crosby’s.

The restructure of Wilkins' roster bonus was just because the bonus was for yesterday, and so if the date passed without restructuring then they wouldn't later be able to spread it over more years. It costs them nothing do do it, and they don't need to use the space but they now have more flexibility if they want to use it. It potentially creates more dead money at a later date, but if they're disciplined in using cap resources then that's not a problem.

The media talked a lot about doing an extension for Geno prior to his roster bonus being due, but that is a much bigger deal - don't rush into a contract extension due to an artificial deadline. I expect Geno to get an extension, but it's better to do it on your own terms than rushing the process.

It was false urgency because the Raiders have been disciplined in managing the cap - it's hard to fault fans for listening to what the media keep trumpeting.
