Do we need an OC/DC thread or do we just keep that talk in the Pete Carrol thread?

If we don't please delete this.
The Athletic just ran a piece about Carroll's potential staff. I can't link it here because it's paywalled, but Tashan Reed mentioned possibly Bevell or Shane Waldron or Brian Schottenheimer for OC (if the younger Schottenheimer doesn't get the Cowboys HC gig), and either Kris Richard or Gus Bradley for DC.
:paperbag:

I could see him maybe bringing in Klint Kubiak or Brian Schottenheimer if he doesn’t get the Cowboys HC gig.

Please no Greg Olson. I’ve had enough of him in my lifetime

If Carroll could get Saleh as his DC with the implied possibility of being the HC successor that would be huge coup for the Raiders. I thought Saleh got a bum rap in NY because of AR. Maybe entice Saleh with a DC/Asst. HC job and title?

OC is going to be very interesting who Pete decides on.

All in all I think this will be the best HC hire the Raiders could have made. Pete's got a proven track record of winning and we needed this. (still hopefully because we know recent history)

As I have been for a couple of decades now, I will wait and see. But it is a lot more hopeful now that we have a proven HC instead of hoping a upcoming OC/DC will be the one.

I have some bad news courtesy of The Athletic.
Tom Cable is a candidate to become the offensive line coach, according to a league source. Cable has extensive ties to both the Raiders and Carroll.
I would absolutely hate this hire. He's the guy that was involved in drafting Leatherwood and his offensive lines were terrible.

A sneaky good OC hire would be Klint Kubiak IMO. That Saints offense was tearing up the league before they were absolutely decimated by injuries and now he has a full year as OC under his belt.

I would imagine the coaching staff to fall into place rather quickly.

Not going to moan and groan about anyone he brings in.

To me this hire is in total opposition when we hired Pats West.

Fully on board and ready to kick ass.

His defenses in NY were really good considering how bad their offenses were. The Jets defense was 3rd best in the league when he got fired this season and finished at the bottom of the league without him. He would be a home run hire but I can't see him leaving the 49ers.

I’ve been a fan of Mike McCarthy’s offense for a while. If he does not get the saints job, I’d bring him in immediately to interview

Use the USC connection and bring back Lance Kiffin as the OC and then groom him to take over in 4 years. I am kidding (sort of). I actually liked Kiffin it just wasn't going to work out with Al after he pushed back about drafting JaMarcus Russell.
